MNT to Host Brazil Sept. 8 in Foxborough
Kickoff for the 18th Meeting Between USA and Brazil is 8 p.m. ET
CHICAGO (July 23, 2015) – The U.S. Men’s National Team continues its competition against the top talent in the world when it hosts five-time World Cup champion Brazil on Tuesday, Sept. 8, at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts.
Kickoff for the match is set for 8 p.m. ET, and the game will be televised on an ESPN Network as well as UniMas and the Univsion Deportes Network. Fans will also be able to follow the match via Twitter @ussoccer and Instagram @ussoccer.
Tickets go on sale to the public Friday, July 31, at 10 a.m. ET through ussoccer.com, by phone at 1-800-745-3000 and at all Ticketmaster ticket centers throughout the region. Starting Monday, August 3, tickets also become available at the Gillette Stadium ticket office (open Monday-Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.) Groups of 30 or more can obtain an order form at ussoccer.com or call 312-528-1290. The match against No.6-ranked Brazil will be the third of the year for the United States against a team ranked in the world top 10. The U.S. defeated sixth-ranked Netherlands, 4-3, as well as world No. 1 and reigning World Cup Champion Germany 2-1 in June.
This will be the 18th meeting between the teams and the fifth since 2009, the most recent a 4-1 win for the Seleção on May 30, 2012, in front of more than 67,000 fans at FedEx Field in Landover, Maryland. In the history between the teams, the U.S. has gone 1-16-0 in a series that dates back to 1930. The U.S. and Brazil squared off in the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup final, the USA’s first championship match in a major FIFA competition. After defeating No.1-ranked Spain in the semifinal, the U.S. jumped out to a 2-0 lead on goals by Clint Dempsey and Landon Donovan before Brazil rallied for a 3-2 victory.
The match with Brazil will be the 15th for the MNT at Gillette Stadium and second this year, following the 1-0 win against Haiti in the Gold Cup on July 10. Overall, the U.S. is 10-2-2 at the venue.
