NaTIONAL TEAM HIGHLIGHTS

  • Called into the full U.S. National Team for the first time in October of 2016, she played in the final four games of the year, earning her first four caps in two matches against Switzerland and two against Romania while picking up her first two WNT assists before suffering an ACL injury in the NCAA Tournament in November which sidelined her for most of the next year.
  • Earned caps every year from 2017-2020, before becoming a consistent presence in the U.S. midfielder following the 2021 Olympics, appearing – and starting – in 10 of the USA’s 11 games immediately following the delayed Tokyo Games.
  • Set career highs in a calendar year in 2022 with games played (15), starts (15) and minutes played (1,126). Also scored one goal against Uzbekistan on April 9.
  • Appeared in four matches – all starts – for the USA at the 2022 Concacaf W Championship, helping the USA qualify for both the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup and the 2024 Summer Olympics.

PREVIOUS WORLD CUP EXPERIENCE

  • Before getting her first call-up to the senior side in the fall of 2016, she played in two youth World Cups, starting at the 2012 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Azerbaijan and the 2014 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Canada.
  • She was one of six players to make the 2014 U-20 Women’s World Cup roster who had yet to begin college.

CLUB HIGHLIGHTS

  • She was taken #1 overall in the 2018 NWSL Draft when she was selected by her home area Washington Spirit, for whom she has become a captain.
  • In 2021, as team captain, she helped lead the Washington Spirit to a third-place finish in the league despite two forfeits due to COVID and then to an improbable NWSL title.
  • She nailed a clutch equalizing penalty kick in the 2021 NWSL Championship Game to knot the score at 1-1 before Kelley O’Hara won it in overtime on a header.

PERSONAL

  • Daughter of John and Marianna Sullivan, she has three older siblings, Shannon, Kayley and Keegan.
  • Sullivan’s husband, Drew Skundrich (they met at and both played for Stanford), plays two seasons for DC United in MLS but is playing this season for the Colorado Switchbacks in the USL Championship.
  • Majored in symbolic systems at Stanford University and had a storybook end to her college career, captaining the Cardinal to an NCAA Championship while winning the MAC Hermann Trophy as the top player in college soccer in 2017.
