McCall Zerboni is one of the most skilled, hard-working midfielders in the league today. She was drafted by the L.A. Sol in 2009 and played for the Atlanta Beat and the Western New York Flash until late 2014, when she was acquired by the Portland Thorns FC. That’s when her game went to another level and she joined fan debates on the leagues’ elite.

COURAGEOUS CLUB CAREER

In 2017, her career continued its accent when the Flash relocated and became the Courage. She started 25 games, scored three goals and was later voted to the league’s Best XI and reached her 100th NWSL regular season appearance.

In 2018, she started 20 games, played 1,800 minutes, scored three goals and had one assist. As a staple in the North Carolina Courage midfield, she was named to the NWSL’s Best XI for the second year in a row and became the first NWSL player to play 10,000 career minutes.
I'm one of those people where I wake up every day and just say that I want to maximize the day and my potential. McCall Zerboni

all the way to the top

After playing professionally for a decade, where she'd been known as one of the strongest midfielders in the NWSL, Zerboni got her long-awaited call up. She was called in as an injury replacement for the USA's match against Korea Republic in Cary, N.C. in October of 2017. She earned her first cap when she entered the match at halftime. Zerboni, who was just a few months shy of her 31st birthday when she debuted, became the oldest player to earn a first cap for the U.S. WNT.

She earned her second and first start on June 7, going the entire 90 minutes in center midfield and earning Player of the Game honors. In her third, Zerboni came off the bench at halftime on July 26 against Japan in Kansas City. She then earned her fourth cap as the USA first substitute vs. Australia on July 29, and her fifth against Brazil on August 2, 2018.
