Let’s begin in Germany, where Christian Pulisic had two assists in as many matches for Borussia Dortmund. At midweek, the MNT midfielder came off the bench just after the hour mark and provided an immediate spark, when his low cross from the right found German international André Schürrle who tapped home an important goal in BVB’s first leg Europa League tie with RB Salzburg. The German club will head to Austria with a 2-1 deficit for leg two on Thursday.

Playing Timmy Chandler and Eintracht Frankfurt in the final game of the Bundesliga weekend on Sunday, Pulisic went the full 90 minutes and helped give Dortmund a 1-0 lead going into halftime when his cross from the right was turned into the back of the net by Frankfurt defender Marco Russ in the 11th minute. The visitors equalized in the 75th minute, but Pulisic helped restore a 2-1 lead two minutes later after a nice combination with Michi Batshuayi saw the Belgian international finish from the top of the area in the 77th minute of the 3-2 win.

Back on this side of the Atlantic, Joe Corona hit home a spectacular, long-range effort to open the scoring in Club América’s 4-0 first leg CONCACACAF Champions league win against Panamanian side Tauro on Wednesday. Sitting just outside the area for a 19th minute corner kick, Corona pounced on clearance and hit a left-footed half-volley that pinged off the right post, evoking a joyful reaction out of Club América manager Miguel Herrera.

In MLS, Gyasi Zardes continued his hot start with Columbus Crew SC, scoring twice to give Gregg Berhalter’s side a 3-2 home win against Montreal Impact. After Federico Higuain put Columbus ahead from the spot in the 12 minute, the Argentine’s free kick from the right found Artur, whose header rang off the cross bar before falling for Zardes to tap in from close range in the 15th minute. Montreal did climb back into the match, but Zardes secured all three points when he slammed a stoppage time penalty kick into the upper left corner.
