The Volkswagen All-Star Spotlight program is a collaboration between U.S. Soccer and VW to highlight children with a passion for the game. The VW All-Star for the USWNT’s October 21 match against Korea Republic is 11-year-old Abdullahi I. from Kansas City, Missouri. Abdullahi aspires to become a professional soccer player and is also passionate about the ways soccer can inspire and impact entire communities.

Who is your favorite U.S. Soccer player and why?
Christian Pulisic because he won the Champions League and we play the same position.
Why do you love soccer?
My family has always played soccer and I use soccer as a way to make my family proud. It also keeps me active and healthy.
What is the most important lesson you have learned from playing sports?
Soccer has helped me learn more about my health and nutrition, and how important it is to take care of my body.
What are you most looking forward to this fall?
Learning more about how I can use soccer to inspire the community. I am currently working on a project that will help people in poverty through creating and selling sustainable streetwear.
Who inspires you the most and why?
My family because they work hard and they support me, my education and my dreams.
What do you want to be when you grow up?
A professional soccer player in the United States.
What or who are you thankful for?
I am thankful for soccer because it keeps me active every single day. I am also thankful for Coach Brady, Moy, Francisco and Emily for creating Ryogoku Soccer Academy, which helps me with my education, health and soccer aspirations.
