CHICAGO (Aug. 19, 2024) – The U.S. Men’s National Team will face regional rival Mexico on Oct. 15 in Guadalajara, Jalisco. Kickoff at Estadio Akron, one of the three venues in Mexico hosting matches in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, is set for 10:30 p.m. ET and the match will be broadcast live on TNT and Max.
The USA-Mexico meeting completes the fall friendlies schedule, which kicks off with the Fan Appreciation Match featuring the United States and Canada on Sept. 7 at Children’s Mercy Park in Kansas City, Kan., which will be broadcast live at 4 p.m. ET on TBS, Telemundo, Universo, Max, Peacock and Fútbol de Primera Radio. On Oct. 12, U.S. Soccer will celebrate Hispanic Heritage Night, presented by AT&T, with the USMNT facing Panama at Q2 Stadium in Austin, Texas. Kickoff on Oct. 12 is set for 9 p.m. ET, and the match will be broadcast live on TNT, Telemundo, Universo, Max, Peacock and Fútbol de Primera Radio.
RIVALRY RENEWED
North America’s biggest rivalry will take center stage once again with the USMNT’s first visit to Estadio Akron. This is the first meeting in a friendly between the teams on Mexican soil since Aug.15, 2012, when fantastic defense and Michael Orozco's 80th minute goal led to a 1-0 victory at the famed Estadio Azteca. The shutout remains the USMNT's only win in Mexico in any competition.
The USMNT is currently riding a team record seven-straight matches unbeaten against El Trí, dating back to the 3-2 extra time win in the 2021 Concacaf Nations League Final. Most recently, goals by midfielders Tyler Adams and Gio Reyna on either side of halftime led the U.S. to a 2-0 victory on March 24, 2024 at AT&T Stadium and its third consecutive CNL title.
