CHICAGO (Feb. 5, 2025) – U.S. Women’s Beach Soccer National Team head coach Morgan Church has selected her 12-player roster for the 2025 BSWW El Salvador Beach Soccer Cup, to be held in San Salvador, El Salvador from Feb. 14-16. All matches will be broadcast on ESPN3.
Winners of both the 2022 and 2024 editions, the No. 8-ranked U.S. Beach WNT will begin training in San Salvador on Monday, Feb. 10 in preparation to face No. 12 Switzerland on Friday, Feb. 14 (4:30 p.m. ET), No. 17 Costa Rica on Saturday, Feb. 15 (4:30 p.m. ET), and hosts No. 10 El Salvador on Sunday, Feb. 16 (7:30 p.m. ET).
“As we look to set the tone for a successful year ahead, we’re embracing the challenge of defending our title at the El Salvador Beach Soccer Cup,” Church said. “With matches against top-level teams like El Salvador, Costa Rica and Switzerland, this tournament will give us a great opportunity to build on our performance at the Acapulco Cup in December. These games aren’t just about winning – it’s also about growth and gaining experience, so we’re bringing a squad that blends a number of veterans with emerging talent to give our players the invaluable opportunity to test themselves on the international stage.”
Eight of the 12 players that led the team to the triumph at the 2024 El Salvador Beach Soccer Cup in March return for this year’s tournament, including back-to-back Female Beach Soccer Player of the Year winner Hannah Adler (Santa Barbara, Calif.), as well as 2024 award finalist Kilee Quigley (Salt Lake City, Utah). Nine of the 10 players that helped the USA to a second-place finish at December’s Acapulco Cup also return, including the Beach WNT’s leading cap-winner Jeané Sunseri-Warp (San Jose, Calif.), as well as Vivian Oray (Kusumu, Kenya) and Marissa Vasquez (Diamond Bar, Calif.), who both earned their Beach WNT debuts in Mexico.
The roster is rounded out by uncapped players Leah Morales Nurnberg (Santa Cruz, Calif.) and Braeden Small (Seattle, Wash.), who both took part in training camps during 2024 and are likely to debut this month.
This upcoming trip marks the Beach WNT’s fifth different tournament on El Salvador sand, a place where Church’s squad has found great success. Since the program launched in 2019, the Beach WNT has gone 9W-3L in 12 overall matches in the Central American nation, winning both the 2022 and 2024 El Salvador Beach Soccer Cups.
At this month’s tournament, the Beach WNT will meet Switzerland for the first time, face Costa Rica for a second time following the team’s 6-4 win last December in Acapulco, and take on El Salvador for a fifth time, with the Beach WNT holding a 3W-1L record against the tournament hosts.
