The second spot in the 2025 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup final is up for grabs in the semifinal between two MLS teams, Minnesota United FC and Austin FC at Allianz Field in St. Paul, Minnesota.

MUFC has a chance to return to the final match, or Austin can claim its first Open Cup semifinal win. Regardless, there will be a new champion in the country's oldest soccer tournament as Nashville SC awaits the winner of this match. Nashville punched its ticket to the Open Cup Final in the first semifinal match on Tuesday night in a 3-1 victory over Philadelphia Union.
Like the rest of the MLS clubs competing in the tournament, both teams in Wednesday’s matchup entered the tournament in the Round of 32. Austin FC overcame El Paso Locomotive in a comeback win, beat the Houston Dynamo in a match where both teams were shown red cards and took down the San Jose Earthquakes in a penalty shootout in the quarterfinal. Meanwhile, Minnesota United defeated Louisville City FC, St. Louis CITY and Chicago Fire FC to advance to the semis.
