The U.S. Women’s National Team player pool had some big moments from the NWSL to abroad.
Stateside, Trinity Rodman and the Washington Spirit clinched a playoff berth. Meanwhile, overseas Korbin Shrader came up huge for her new club OL Lyonnes against her old squad PSG.

Trinity Rodman, Washington Spirit Clinch Playoff Berth
The Washington Spirit became the second team in the NWSL to clinch a playoff spot in a 4-0 victory over the Houston Dash. Trinity Rodman contributed two assists to Gift Monday’s hat trick.
The Kansas City Current was the first squad to punch a postseason ticket, having already claimed the NWSL Shield with the best overall record. The Spirit ranks second, 16 points behind the Current and four points above the third-ranked Gotham FC. The Spirit made it to the title game in 2024 but fell to the Orlando Pride.
Korbin Shrader Records Hat Trick, Assist to Lindsey Heaps
Korbin Shrader shined in OL Lyonnes 6-1 win over PSG. Shader recorded a hat trick along with an assist to fellow USWNT player Lindsey Heaps. Heaps got on the scoreboard in the 58th minute with a header off a curling pass from Shrader.
Then, Shrader scored three goals in 15 minutes in the 70th, 74th and 85th minutes. It marked the first hat trick of the 21-year-old’s career. Shrader transferred from PSG in the summer, and in her second match and first start with her new club, she came up big.
Rose Lavelle Scores off Jaedyn Shaw
Two USWNT talents created magic in Gotham FC’s 3-0 victory over the Portland Thorns. Rose Lavelle scored in the 43rd minute. It was her third goal of the season after she returned from injury in late June. USWNT midfielder Jaedyn Shaw flipped a one-touch pass to a Lavelle cutting up field, and the Cincinnati native netted a left-footed shot past the Thorns goalkeeper’s outstretched reach.
The World Cup champion Lavelle and the young talent Shaw became NWSL teammates when Shaw transferred from the North Carolina Courage earlier this month. In four matches, Shaw has contributed a goal and an assist. Now, the two stars continue to gear up for a playoff run as Gotham holds onto the No. 3 spot in the league.
Alyssa Thompson Makes First Start with Chelsea FC
Alyssa Thompson transferred to Chelsea FC in the Women’s Super League from Angel City FC earlier this month. The winger made her debut off the bench on Sept. 14, and Thompson made her first start in the 4-0 win over West Ham on Sunday. She played 60 minutes after two 45-minute appearances as a substitute.
