PHOENIX (Nov. 18, 2025) - The U.S. Power Soccer National Team closed out the first phase of the 2025 APFC America’s Cup with a dominant 10-0 win against Canada and comprehensive 6-0 victory against Brazil to claim top spot in the group. The No. 1-ranked USA will once again face No. 4-ranked Brazil in Wednesday’s second semifinal at 12:30 p.m. ET, with a win qualifying the side for the 2026 FIPFA Powerchair Football World Cup in Argentina. The semifinal winners will play in the final at 5 p.m. ET on Wednesday in the tournament championship match.

MICHAEL RAYTON AND DAVID DOWLING LEAD USA TO 10-0 WIN OVER CANADA
Utilizing a hat trick from 16-year-old Michael Rayton, a four assist and one-goal performance from David Dowling and Ryan Connolly’s first international goal, the U.S. Power Soccer National Team rode to a dominant 10-0 win against Canada to open the final day of group stage play at the APFC America’s Cup.
A beautiful five-pass sequence between Rayton, Johnson and Heer led to the USA’s first goal. Rayton, who earned his first start in the match, carried the ball into the attacking half and played combinations with both Johnson at the point and Heer on the left. Heer pushed the ball back to Johnson, who set up Rayton with a first-time finish with just over a minute gone.
The USA came close to a second in the seventh minute, as Johnson’s corner from the left found Rayton riding towards goal before he glanced his shot off the left post. Rayton attempted to stuff home the rebound, but Canada’s André Bougie was able to keep out the danger.
The second goal did come after more set piece mastery from substitute Pete Winslow. In one of his first touches of the match, Winslow powered his corner kick from the left straight into the box where it banked off the back of Bougie’s chair and over the line to make it 2-0 in the 15th minute.
The USA got one more goal before halftime, as Winslow’s free kick from the left snaked through the box to find Heer at the right post. The U.S. wing backed into the ball, deflecting it off Canada goalkeeper Caroline Séguinand over the line to make it 3-0 going into the break.
Tracy Mayer’s side continued its dominance in the second half behind some magic from Dowling. After a two-on-one violation was called against Canada deep in their attacking end, substitute Dowling lined up a free kick to the right of goal, picking out Rayton in the box for his second of the match in the 22nd minute.
Dowling got in on the scoring action two minutes later. After being fouled by Canada’s Emile St-Denis Laroche, he lined up a direct free kick just left of goal that he threaded through the Canada defense to make it 5-0.
Dowling then assisted on three goals in the space of six minutes. In the 27th, he swung a corner from the left for Rayton to redirect at the near post, for the 16-year-old to claim his hat trick. In the 32nd minute, Dowling sent a corner from the right to find Riley Johnson who redirected inside the near post. Just one minute later, the Fort Wayne product snaked his kick-in from the right for Heer to crash home her second of the match to take the score to 8-0 in the 33rd minute.
The scoring wasn’t finished however. In the 38th minute, Winslow’s free kick from the right picked out substitute Ryan Connolly who smashed home his first career international goal. Connolly then returned the favor with one of the last kicks of the game, finding Winslow at the right post to cap the scoring at 10-0.

JORDAN DICKEY AND MICHAEL RAYTON PUSH USA TO 6-0 WIN AGAINST BRAZIL IN GROUP FINALE
After a long break in the day following the first match, it took the U.S. side a few minutes to get going against Brazil as a few errant balls went begging in the early going.
Following a few close chances, Tracy Mayer’s side broke through in the eighth minute as Johnson threaded the ball to Heer on the right, before she one-touched to Dowling to poke home at the left post in the eighth minute.
In the 16th minute a combo between Dowling and Heer nearly led to the second goal, only to have Heer’s shot off her back wheel come off the left post.
The second came from none other than goalkeeper Jordan Dickey in the 19th minute. Coming out of his box to challenge, Dickey won a dual at the center line with Bernardo Borges and powered forward before making a clever fake on Lucas Dutra to open up space. With a lane toward goal, Dickey let the ball run a bit before bundling it over the line as Brazil goalkeeper Pedro Henrique challenged him.
Brazil sustained a lot of U.S. pressure through the first 10 minutes of the second half, but the third goal came off a nice set play in the 30th minute. Taking a free kick on the right, Johnson spun his effort toward the box, where Michael Rayton gave just a slight touch to push it past a Brazil defender and over to Dickey who tucked home his second of the match.
Following a nice passing sequence, Dickey returned the favor in the 34th minute, finding Rayton at the back post who spun home his first of the match. Two minutes later, Pete Winslow put his name on the score sheet. His initial kick-in from the right was blocked, but he followed up and measured his rebound, tucking it just inside the right post.
Not to be outdone, Rayton grabbed one more goal, alertly latching onto a ball in the box before powering it over the line for his second of the game and fifth of the day to cap the scoring at 6-0.

- With the results, the Power Soccer NT improves to 16-0-0 all-time at the APFC America’s Cup, in a run that dates back to the first edition of the competition in 2014. The USA holds a 41W-5L-4D since beginning play in 2007.
