SAN PEDRO DEL PINATAR, Spain (Dec. 2, 2025) – The U.S. U-20 Women’s National Team picked up a 1-0 victory over China PR to finish a two-match set during a training camp in Spain.
Izzy Engle scored the USA’s lone goal in the 29th minute, but the USA dominated the match, outshooting China PR, 13-2. Engle capitalized off a play in which the ball hit two Chinese defenders before falling to her for the finish from about seven yards out.
This was Engle’s first goal at the U-20 international level, but she has scored 38 over the past two seasons at Notre Dame, 19 as a freshman and 19 as a sophomore.
The USA also beat England, 4-1, on Nov. 29 as forwards Mary Long and Alex Pfeiffer, who are teammates on the Kansas City Current in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL), both bagged braces.
The USA is preparing for the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup which will be held next year from Sept. 5-27 in Poland. The USA is one of 12 nations to have already qualified for the tournament, doing so at the 2025 Concacaf Women’s U-20 Championship last June. The tournament will feature 24 countries.
This camp is the second for new U.S. U-20 WNT head coach Vicky Jepson, but two wins marked her first international games at the helm.
The age cut-off for the 2026 FIFA Under-20 Women’s World Cup is players born on or after Jan. 1, 2006. This roster was made up of eight players born in 2006 and 12 born in 2007.
