ATLANTA (Dec. 2, 2025) – The stage is set for the U.S. Men’s National Team’s final march towards the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The cities and venues have been confirmed for the team’s last pre-tournament matches, a high-caliber series featuring three of the world’s top 10-teams in Belgium, Portugal and Germany. Mauricio Pochettino’s squad will use this elite slate to sharpen its form ahead of the tournament on home soil.
All four matches will take place at stadiums that are home to NFL and MLS teams.
As the new home of U.S. Soccer, Atlanta will host a pair of matches, beginning with USA-Belgium on March 28 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Kickoff against the eighth-ranked Belgian side is set for 3:30 p.m. ET and will be broadcast on TNT, HBO Max, Telemundo, Universo, and Peacock.
Three days later, USA-Portugal, presented by Bank of America, kicks off at 7 p.m. ET from Mercedes-Benz Stadium, with the match against the 6th-ranked Portuguese side to be shown live on TNT, TruTV, HBO Max, Universo, and Peacock.
Following the announcement of the USMNT roster that will represent the United States at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, N.C. will host the Allstate Continental Clásico on May 31, against an opponent to be determined. Kickoff from the home of Charlotte FC is set for 3:30 p.m. ET and will be broadcast on TBS, HBO Max, Universo, and Peacock.
To close out its World Cup preparation schedule, the USMNT will take on four-time World Cup champion Germany in the Coca-Cola Send-Off Match on June 6 at Soldier Field in Chicago. The United States kicks off against the ninth-ranked German team at the current home of the Chicago Fire at 2:30 p.m. ET, with the match shown live on TBS, HBO Max, Telemundo, Universo, and Peacock.
All four matches will be carried live on radio as Westwood One Sports delivers English language commentary from onsite while longtime partner Fútbol de Primera has the Spanish language call.
Fans can follow the USMNT on X (@USMNT), Instagram (@USMNT), Facebook and the official U.S. Soccer App.
“For us, this is a massive opportunity to challenge ourselves against some of the top teams in the world. These are incredible matches for the players and for the fans,” USMNT head coach Mauricio Pochettino said. “We are so happy to be playing in our new home of Atlanta, and of course to be competing in the great cities of Charlotte and Chicago ahead of the World Cup.”
The matches against three more World Cup qualified teams offer more preparation against the opponents and styles the team could face this summer.
Having finished third at the 2018 FIFA World Cup, the Red Devils will make their fourth straight World Cup appearance. Winners of Group J in UEFA qualifying, they are led by six-time English Premier League winner Kevin De Bruyne and Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, who won the Golden Glove as the best goalkeeper at the 2018 World Cup.
Portugal, currently sixth in the Coca-Cola FIFA Men’s World Rankings, won the 2025 UEFA Nations League championship led by Cristiano Ronaldo, the all-time leading scorer in men’s international soccer history and a five-time winner of the Ballon d'Or as the world’s best player.
Four-time World Cup winners Germany are making their 21st appearance in the tournament, led by Arsenal forward Kai Havertz and Bayern Munich midfielder Jamal Musiala, with their most recent World Cup victory coming in 2014.

ANCHORED IN ATLANTA
Georgia will serve as the new home of the U.S. Soccer and the Arthur M. Blank National Training Center, set to be completed in the spring of 2026. The USMNT has only played four times in Atlanta dating back to 1967, a 1-0 win against Canada in World Cup Qualifying on Oct. 27, 1968. Remarkably, three of the four matches were in three different official competitions: FIFA World Cup Qualifying, the Concacaf Gold Cup and Copa America. The USMNT has only played once at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, the home of Atlanta United, a 2-1 loss to Panama on June 27, 2024, in the 2024 Copa America.
RED DEVILS ON AMERICAN SOIL
The U.S. has a brief series of results against a country with one of the most storied football histories in the game. Overall, the USMNT is 1W-5L-0D against the Red Devils in a series that goes back almost a century. The upcoming match will be just the second played between the teams in the United States, the first coming in a 4-2 defeat on May 29, 2013 in Cleveland, Ohio.
Most famously, the teams met in the Round of 16 at the 2014 World Cup. After playing to a scoreless draw in regulation, three goals were scored in extra time which ended in a 2-1 defeat for the United States. However, the star of the show was USMNT goalkeeper Tim Howard, who made a World Cup record 16 saves in the contest which led to him being dubbed “The Secretary of Defense” for his stunning performance.
A SELEÇÃO VERSUS THE STARS AND STRIPES
In seven total meetings with Portugal, the USMNT has scored eight goals and conceded the same amount against the historic European nation. Overall, the USMNT is an even 2W-2L-3D in the series dating back to 1978. The USMNT’s most recent victory came in the first match of their historic 2002 World Cup quarterfinal finish, a 3-2 victory in Suwon, Korea Republic. The teams met again in the 2014 FIFA World Cup, when an inch-perfect delivery from Ronaldo in stoppage time nullified goals by Jermaine Jones and Clint Dempsey to salvage a point for Portugal from the 2-2 draw.
This will be the first meeting since 2017, a 1-1 draw in Leiria, Portugal. USMNT midfielders Tyler Adams and Weston McKennie made their senior team debuts that day, with McKennie tallying the USA’s lone goal.
The Seleção das Quinas have seen a surge of trophies over the last decade led by Cristiano Ronaldo, claiming the 2016 UEFA European Championship, 2017 Confederations Cup and the 2019 and 2025 UEFA Nations League titles.
COMING TO QUEEN CITY
This is only the second match for the USMNT in Charlotte and at Bank of America Stadium, home of Charlotte FC. On July 2, 2023, a first-half hat trick from Jesus Ferreira paced the USA to 6-0 win against Trinidad and Tobago in the final match of Concacaf Gold Cup group play before 40,243 fans at Bank of America Stadium. Overall, the USMNT has a 5-1-2 record in the state of North Carolina. Charlotte FC defender Tim Ream has earned 79 caps for the USMNT since 2011. He has served as U.S. captain 25 times, ranking him eighth on the team’s all-time captains list.
FROM DEUTSCHLAND TO CHICAGOLAND
Coincidentally, Soldier Field was the site of the first meeting between the United States and Germ against Germany, a 4-3 win for the visitors in the 1993 U.S. Cup. Overall, the USMNT is 4W-8L-0D against Germany, with the most recent meeting another win for the Germans in 2023. In 2013, led by head coach and former German World Cup winner Jürgen Klinsmann, the U.S. earned a 4-3 victory in Washington, D.C. in the Centennial Match honoring the 100-year anniversary of the U.S. Soccer Federation. The USMNT and Germany have met three times in the World Cup (1998, 2002, 2014), including during the USA’s historic run to the 2002 quarterfinals that controversially ended in a 1-0 defeat in part due to controversial handball decision that would have given the U.S. a penalty kick and a man advantage.
Four-time World Cup Champions, most recently in 2014, Germany have also won three European Championship titles, putting them one behind Spain for the most tournament victories all-time. Germany finished atop Group A in World Cup Qualifying going unbeaten in its last five matches.
SUMMERTIME IN THE WINDY CITY
The upcoming USMNT match against Germany will be the 18th time the U.S. have played at Soldier Field since 1973. Ahead of the 1994 World Cup, the U.S. played Germany, a 4-3 loss in their only matchup at Soldier Field. In 1993, the opening game of the 1994 World Cup was played in Chicago, coincidentally it was also Germany playing in a 1-0 victory against Bolivia. The U.S. have lifted two trophies at Soldier Field - the 2007 and 2013 Gold Cups. The game-winner in 2007 was an iconic finish in a 2-1 victory over Mexico, with a 62nd minute equalizer from Landon Donovan and a 73rd minute match-winner from Benny Feilhaber. Chicago has a long soccer history and professional clubs, from the Chicago Sting of the NASL to the Chicago Fire of MLS.
