The least capped Starting XI since 2001 before this afternoon came three days ago in Carson, Calif. against Paraguay with 9.6 average caps per heading into the match. Before that, the lowest average caps per player was against New Zealand on Oct. 29, 2025, with 17.3 caps heading into the match, which is a just bit lower than the April 8, 2025, Starting XI vs. Brazil which averaged 17.9 caps per player.
- The caps for today’s starting lineup is 54% lower than the previous lowest average caps for a Starting XI in the last 25 years and the previous low, which occurred just three days ago, was more than 50% lower than the previous record for fewest caps average in a starting lineup: 17.3 (Oct. 29, 2025) to 9.6 (Jan. 24, 2026) to 5.2 (Jan. 27, 2206).
- The roster for this camp exclusively features NWSL players from 14 clubs. Seattle Reign FC and Washington Spirit lead the league in representation with five players each in camp: Claudia Dickey, Sam Meza, Sally Menti, Maddie Dahlien and Jordyn Bugg from Seattle; Tara Rudd, Croix Bethune, Hal Hershfelt, Kate Wiesner and the newly re-signed Trinity Rodman from the Spirit. The club with the next-most players is Kansas City Current with four: Ally Sentnor, Lo’eau LaBonta, Izzy Rodriguez and Claire Hutton.
- Sixteen players made their USWNT debuts in 2025 which is the most U.S. debuts in a calendar year since the first year of the program (1985). Eleven players debuted for the USWNT in 2024, which was the most in a calendar year since 2001, when 15 players – including eventual World Cup champions Abby Wambach and Lori Chalupny – earned their first caps. To open 2026, U.S. head coach Emma Hayes gave three players their debut in the first match of the year: forward Reilyn Turner, forward Maddie Dahlien and midfielder Sally Menti,
- Ayo Oke and Riley Jackson become the 289th and 290th players to debut for the USWNT as they take the pitch as the 4th and 5th debutantes of 2026. They are the 31st and 32nd debuts of Emma Hayes’ USWNT tenure.
- Jameese Joseph also earns her first start for the United States.
- Five of the eleven players starting the match are 24 years old, three are 26 and the others are 20, 22 and 23 individually.
- With the two first caps given out today by U.S. head coach Emma Hayes, she will have given 32 players first caps in her first 32 matches, a remarkable number. That said, this camp is the final one of 2026 in which Hayes will cast a wide net, with all the rosters from here on likely to be populated mostly more veteran and experienced players.
