ATLANTA, GA. – U.S. Soccer has selected Ref Insight as its new referee assignment platform following an extensive Request for Proposals (RFP) process focused on strengthening and modernizing national referee operations.
The selection concludes a structured review of assignment platforms capable of supporting the scale, complexity, and long-term needs of competitions administered by U.S. Soccer and its National Assignors. The RFP process evaluated both existing and prospective solutions against clearly defined operational, technical, and user-experience criteria, with an emphasis on scalability, efficiency, and consistency across national competitions.
Ref Insight was selected based on its ability to support complex, multi-competition assignment environments while improving workflows for assignors and enhancing clarity and communication for match officials. The platform also demonstrated the flexibility and development roadmap required to grow alongside the evolving needs of U.S. Soccer’s referee ecosystem.
The new platform will be utilized for referee assignments in competitions assigned by U.S. Soccer and National Assignors, including but not limited to the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, international matches hosted in the United States, United Soccer League (USL) pre-professional competitions, National Premier Soccer League (NPSL), United Premier Soccer League (UPSL), and United Women’s Soccer (UWS). Additional competitions may be incorporated as part of a phased rollout.
For referees, the transition to Ref Insight will provide a centralized platform for managing assignments, accessing match information, and communicating with assignors, while promoting greater consistency across competitions. For National Assignors, the platform will support more efficient assignment workflows, improved data visibility, and standardized processes with the flexibility required for different competition environments.
The selection of Ref Insight represents an important step in U.S. Soccer’s ongoing commitment to operational excellence, referee development, and the use of modern, fit-for-purpose technology to support the national referee program.
