RIVERSIDE, Missouri (April 15, 2026) – The U.S. U-20 Women’s National Team draw, 1-1, with Brazil in the second of two matches between the teams to finish a training camp in Kansas City. The USA won the first game, 2-0, on April 12.
The match was suspended in the 79th minute to inclement weather, and as the storms continued, just over an hour later, the teams mutually agreed to end the match.
The USA started a lineup of five college players and six NWSL professionals with San Diego Wave midfielder Kimmi Ascanio scoring the USA’s lone goal in the 24th minute, cancelling out a Brazil strike from Vitorinha in the 15th minute. Ascanio also scored the clinching goal in the April 12 match and now has two international goals at the U-20 level.
The matches were a part of the Kansas City Current’s inaugural Teal Rising Week, designed to celebrate global women’s soccer, Teal Rising Week features a collection of professional, international and youth talent with elite matches, tournaments, skills challenges, education sessions and more.
The camp and matches were a part of continued preparations for the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, which will be held in Poland from Sept. 5-27. The USA and Brazil are among the 16 nations to have qualified for the tournament. The tournament will feature 24 countries, with the Asia and Africa Confederations yet to qualify their representatives.
The age cut-off for the 2026 FIFA Under-20 Women’s World Cup is players born on or after Jan. 1, 2006. This roster is made up of 14 players born in 2006, eight born in 2007 and two, midfielders Nyanya Touray and Ascanio, who were born in 2008.
