FAYETTEVILLE, Ga. (Aug. 16, 2026) - The U.S. Under-17 Women’s National Team defeated Chile, 1-0, in the second of three international matches during a training camp at the Arthur M. Blank U.S. Soccer National Training Center.
The USA’s lone goal came in the 65th minute, soon after U.S. head coach Ciara Crinion made two subs in the 62nd minute, sending on 15-year-old midfielder Loradana Paletta and forward Deus Stanislaus. Both impacted the game almost immediately. The goal sequence started when midfielder Grace Murray dug a ball out of a tackle in midfield and slipped it through to Paletta who was racing towards goal. She deftly side-stepped a defender, dribbled to the penalty arc and played a pass to winger Jordyn Sullivan inside the penalty box on the right side. Sullivan dribbled to the edge of the six-yard box and chipped a cross to the far post where the crashing Stanislaus headed home the game-winner from the doorstep.
It was the team-leading ninth international goal of 2026 for Stanislaus and she got to celebrate with her entire team as the players on the field and those on the bench all sprinted to the corner for a collective group hug.
This is the final training camp for this group before Crinion selects her roster for the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco. This was the 11th international match of the year for U.S. U-17s, which has now compiled a record of 7W-2L-2D in 2026.
The USA drew Mexico, 1-1, in the first game of the training camp on Aug. 13, but tonight the Americans were on the front foot for almost the entire match. Still, the young U.S. team couldn’t find the goal in the first half despite earning five corner kicks in the first 17 minutes and 13 total for the match.
The USA’s one professional player on the roster, Meila Brewer of the Kansas City Current, captained the USA from her center back position but didn’t have much to do as the USA controlled possession all night, and she kept most of the play in front of her.
The USA’s first great chance came in the 16th minute when midfielder Jordyn Heathcock bent in a corner kick from the left side that may have settled into the net if not for the intervention of Chile goalkeeper Lia Peña, who stuck up a hand to push the ball out for another corner kick.
Later in the half, forward Amari Manning, who scored the USA’s lone goal against Mexico from the penalty spot, slipped a pass to midfielder Isa Ortiz in the right side of the penalty area. Ortiz raced to the near post and smashed a shot that was pushed away for a corner kick via a big save from Pena.
Manning was one of the USA’s most dangerous players on the night. In the 52nd minute, she pulled off a brilliant turn at the top of the penalty box to split two defenders and drove to the top of the six-yard box but sent her shot just wide left. Seconds later, Manning once again got a bit of space in the box but clipped her shot over the crossbar.
In the 63rd, Chile produced a rare chance on the counter that forced a nice save from substitute goalkeeper Kathy Long Capel, who had come on at halftime. Capell stood tall to push Catalina Muñoz’s well-struck shot from 16 yards over the crossbar.
The match featured 11 cards, but just three to the USA, two of which came in second-half stoppage time. Chile’s Isadora Benavides pulled off a rare feat at the end of the match, earning two yellow cards and a red card within seconds of each other, the first for a foul and the second for kicking the ball away, which drew the red and a slightly early trip to the locker room.
The U.S. U-17 WNT will finish this camp with a game against Canada at 5 p.m. ET on Wednesday, Aug. 19. The USA, Canada, Chile and Mexico will all be participating in the 2027 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in October in Morocco.
This camp and matches are a part of the Federation’s continued focus on the U.S. Way philosophy, which emphasizes increased programming for Youth National Teams to create more opportunities for young players to advance through the pathway to the senior National Team with the goal of representing their country at a world championship.
