ATLANTA (Sept. 29, 2026) -- U.S. Power Soccer National Team head coach Tracy Mayer has named his final eight-player roster for the 2026 Fédération Internationale de Powerchair Football Association (FIPFA)Powerchair Football World Cup in Argentina to be held from Oct. 17-23 at Parque Olimpico de la Juventud, Buenos Aires. All matches will be broadcast live on IPFA YouTube Channel.
“I’m excited for our team to have the opportunity to compete again,” said Mayer. “We have been training very hard over the last couple years and are ready to play with the best teams in the world. The depth of competition at this World Cup is very deep and it will be great to for our team to experience that.”
A year ago, the U.S. Power Soccer NT won the 2025 APFC America’s Cup in Phoenix with a perfect 7-0-0 record, its third straight regional title, by downing Brazil in the semifinals and Argentina in the finals by identical, hard-fought 1-0 scorelines. The APFC championship qualified the Americans for the 2026 FIPFA Powerchair Football World Cup in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
The 2026 World Cup will be the fifth edition of the tournament, with the U.S. having qualified to each iteration of the competition since its inception in 2007.
The U.S. roster features six players from the 2025 APFC America’s Cup squad, including three-time Player of the Year winner Riley Johnson (Saint Cloud, Minn.), the Power NT’s all-time caps leader Jordan Dickey (Pendleton, Ind.), as well as veteran World Cup players Nathan Mayer (Monticello, Minn.), Lexi Heer (Fishers, Ind.) and Pete Winslow (Woodbury, Minn.). David Dowling (Fort Wayne, Ind.) rounds out that group and will be making his World Cup debut coming off his appearance at the America’s Cup.
At the last Powerchair World Cup in Australia in 2023, Winslow led the entire tournament with 15 assists and 17 goal contributions, while Heer led the team with six overall goals, as the U.S. finished third overall.
Zach Dickey, who was on the 2023 World Cup roster, returns to the team for Argentina, and Lindsay Muench will likely be making her international debut at the 2026 World Cup, as this is her first roster selection.

TOURNAMENT FORMAT AND QUALIFYING SCHEDULE
The USA’s nine-match round-robin schedule begins against fifth-ranked Australia on Oct. 17. The schedule is then highlighted by matches against two-time defending World Cup champions France on Oct. 19, a showdown with hosts Argentina on Oct. 20 (who the U.S. defeated in the third-place match in the 2023 World Cup), and a group-stage finale against England on Oct. 21 (a rematch of the 2023 World Cup semifinals won by England).

OPPONENT HISTORY
France arrives as the two-time defending World Cup champion, having won in Australia and in the United States (2023 and 2017). In their last match, the U.S. battled to a 3-1 loss early in group play at the 2023 FIPFA World Cup.
The U.S. will play their first group stage match against fifth-ranked Australia.
The U.S. will face World Cup hosts Argentina for the first time since defeating them 1-0 at the 2025 APFC America’s Cup final in Phoenix. At the 2023 World Cup, the team’s drew 1-1 in group play and the U.S. defeated Argentina 2-1 in the third-place match.
Against England, the group play match that will close out the round-robin, league-play portion of the competition will serve as a bit of a rubber match from the 2023 FIPFA World Cup, where the U.S. downed England 3-1 in group play, but then fell to the eventual runners-up 1-0 in the semifinals.
This tournament marks the first time the Americans will face Italy and Belgium. The U.S. has played against the rest of the tournament field in prior competitions.
HISTORY OF THE POWER SOCCER NATIONAL TEAM
Having started under U.S. Soccer member organization U.S. Power Soccer Association (USPSA) in 2007, the U.S. Power Soccer National Team are two-time FIPFA Powerchair Football World Cup champions, winning the first two competitions in 2007 and 2011, before earning a runner-up finish in 2017 and third place in 2023. The USA is also three-time APFC America’s Cup champions, winning the competition in 2014, 2019 and 2025. The Power Soccer National Team holds a 42W-5L-4D overall record and joined U.S. Soccer’s Extended National Teams program as a fully-funded national team in 2022.
Power Soccer is the first competitive team sport developed specifically for power wheelchair users and has been played internationally since 2007. The U.S. Power Soccer National Team features male and female athletes with disabilities that include quadriplegia, multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy, and cerebral palsy, among others. The game is played in a gymnasium on a regulation basketball court with four players who attack, defend, and spin-kick a 13-inch soccer ball in a skilled and challenging game similar to mainstream soccer.
