ATLANTA (OCT. 12, 2026) -- U.S. Men’s Cerebral Palsy (CP) National Team head coach Stuart Sharp has named the 14-player roster for the 2026 International Federation of Cerebral Palsy Football (IFCPF) World Cup to be held Oct. 14-24 at the Arthur M. Blank U.S. Soccer National Training Center. This will be the first major international competition held at the facility and the first event open to the public (free reserved tickets available here).
The U.S. enters the 12-team tournament ranked sixth in the world and is set to face Canada on Wednesday, Oct. 14 (4:30 p.m. ET), then Scotland on Friday, Oct. 16 (4:30 p.m. ET), and conclude the group stage play against the Netherlands on Sunday, Oct. 18 (5:40 p.m. ET). All matches will be broadcast live via the IFCPF YouTube Channel.
“What an amazing opportunity this is for the players and staff. Playing in a World Cup is always special, but to do it at home, at our National Training Center, makes it even more so,” said Sharp. “The players have worked incredibly hard to get to this moment, and now it’s about embracing the pressure, competing and having fun while we do it.”
“We know some very good teams are coming to the U.S., but we also know how good we can be. We have a home-field advantage, we intend to use it, and our goal is to win."
Sharp, who will guide the U.S. for the sixth time in World Cup play, has selected a veteran roster in which all 14-players have previous World Cup experience.
The roster features 11 players who return from the 2022 World Cup team that placed a team-best fourth, 12 from the 2023 Pan American Games squad that won bronze, 10 from the 2024 World Cup team that missed out on the medal round, and 11 from the 2025 Copa America champions, winning the title against Argentina in the final.
One of the most experienced players on the roster, midfielder Adam Ballou (Virginia Beach, Va.) is only two caps away from reaching the century mark. He would become only third player in the program’s history to reach the number.
The roster features a mix of experienced players as well as younger talent highlighted by the return to World Cup action of long-time team leader Josh Brunais (Stafford, Va.), who missed the 2024 World Cup through injury. This will be the third World Cup for the 39-year-old veteran. On the other end of the spectrum, 22-year-old Frankie Lowery (Ft. Collins, Colo.) will be making this his second World Cup appearance as the team's youngest player.

WORLD CUP OPPONENTS
The No. 6-ranked U.S. Men’s CP National Team is grouped with No. 11-ranked Canada, No. 15-ranked Scotland and No. 5-ranked Netherlands.
The U.S. and Canada will meet in the World Cup for the first time in the modern era since 2014. Their last meeting was in the semifinals of the 2025 IFCPF Copa America semifinal, where the Americans won 6-0 to advance to the program’s first final in a major competition. The U.S. then defeated Argentina 4-1 to claim the title.
The Americans will face Scotland in the second match of group play. The teams last met in a two-game series at the AdaptAndThrive Invitational in May of this year. Midfielder Ben Lindau (Chicago, Ill.) made history at that event, scoring the first-ever U.S. goal at the Arthur M. Blank U.S. National Training Center.
The last World Cup match the U.S. and Scotland played was in 2015, where head coach Stuart Sharp lead the team against his home country in a 2-1 win. This match clinched the U.S. to their first quarterfinal match in a World Cup in the modern era.
The 2015 World Cup tournament was the first time Scottish national Stuart Sharp led the team in a World Cup as head coach.
The U.S. and the Netherlands will meet for the seventh time in history with a (2W-0L-4D) record, meeting for the third-straight-time on the World Cup stage. In 2022, the Americans came out on top with a 3-0 win inthe quarterfinals, utilizing a brace from Jonah Meyer-Crothers. Two years later, the Netherlands beat the U.S. (who had two players sent off in the game), 8-3 in a 2024 World Cup group stage match.
HISTORY AND TOURNAMENT FORMAT
The Americans best finish at a World Cup came in 2022, when they placed fourth.
The U.S. finished seventh at the 2024 IFCPF World Cup after a 4-3 extra-time win over Germany in the placement rounds for seventh or eighth place.
Twelve national teams are competing in this year’s World Cup, the first staged in the United States. The last three editions (2019, 2022, and 2024) were all hosted in Spain.
The top two teams in each group, plus the two best third-place finishers, will advance to the quarterfinals on Oct. 20. The winners from those matches will contest the semifinals on Oct. 22, leading into the IFCPF Men’s World Cup Final on Oct. 24.
