Lo’eau LaBonta will be the oldest USWNT player ever to debut if she gets on the field today. Previously, the oldest player to debut was McCall Zerboni, who debuted on Oct. 22, 2017, and was just a few months shy of her 31st birthday. If LaBonta plays against China PR, she will be 32 years 2 months 13 days old. LaBonta is 14 years and 25 days older than Lily Yohannes.
Today’s starting lineup has an average of 49.1 caps, including this match.
Phallon Tullis-Joyce, 28, earns her second cap and makes her second start. Her only other match for the USA came on April 5 of this year in a 2-0 shutout of Brazil at SoFi Stadium. Tullis-Joyce comes into camp fresh off helping Manchester United earn a berth to UEFA Women’s Champions League qualifying as well as a spot in the FA Cup Final.
Naomi Girma earns her first cap and makes her first start of 2025 after missing the USA first three events of the year. At 24 and playing in just her 45th international game, she is already a veteran leader and considered one of the top defenders in the world. She comes into camp off helping Chelsea complete the treble with Women’s Super League and FA Cup titles. This is her 43rd career start and she started all 18 matches she played in 2024.
Lily Yohannes, who turns 18 on June 12, will earn her seventh cap and make her fourth career start. She played the final 30 minutes on April 5 vs. Brazil and earned the penalty kick that clinched the game for the USA and started and played 45 minutes vs. Brazil on April 8.
Avery Patterson, 22, will earn her third cap and make her second start, after getting her first cap on April 5 vs. Brazil in Los Angeles when she came on at the end of the match. Patterson, who has two goals from outside back this year for the Houston Dash, has been in the USA’s Youth National Team program at the U-14, U-20 and U-23 levels.
Lindsey Heaps, who had another great season in France, will earn her 166th career cap. She is 21st on the all-time caps list, chasing Carla Overbeck, who has 170. Heaps will captain the USA for the 38th time.
Alyssa Thompson, 19, will make her third straight start and earn her 18th cap. This will be just her seventh career start. Thompson had the assist on Trinity Rodman’s goal against Brazil on April 5. It was her second career USWNT assist to go with one goal.
Michelle Cooper will earn her fifth cap and make her second and second consecutive start. She captained the USA’s 2022 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Team and earned her first senior team cap on Feb. 20 vs. Colombia when she came into the match in 64th minute for Yazmeen Ryan. She scored her first USWNT goal on Feb. 23 vs. Australia in the SheBelieves Cup when she came into the game in the 62nd minute and scored in the 68th, which turned out to be the game-winner.
Emily Sonnett starts in the center of the defense to earn her 108th career cap. She played full 90 minutes games in both April matches vs. Brazil.
Sam Coffey earns her 34th career cap and makes her 25th career start. She started 19 games in 2024 after just two starts in over 2022 (her debut year) and 2023.
Crystal Dunn, 32, earns her 160th cap and her fifth since playing 90 minutes in the 2024 Olympic gold medal game win over Brazil. It will be her 128th career start. Only 33 players in U.S. history have 125 or more caps, never mind starts. Her 160 caps ties her with Kelley O’Hara for 22nd all-time and makes her one of just 23 American female players to hit that mark.
Catarina Macario earns her 24th career cap and is hit double-figures in goals with her score against Brazil – the country of her birth -- on April 8. Against Colombia on Feb. 20, 2025, she scored her first USWNT goal in 712 days.
