- Mauricio Pochettino makes nine changes to the lineup that started Saturday’s match against Paraguay, with only Matt Freese and Sergiño Dest as the two hold overs.
- Veteran center back Mark McKenzie wears the captain’s armband for the first time. He caps off 2025 with his eighth overall appearance, the most the defender has had in a calendar year with the USMNT since making his debut in 2020.
- Having debuted in January, Freese makes his 13th overall appearance tonight, matching the record for most caps by a USMNT goalkeeper in their debut year set by Matt Turner in 2021.
- Dest will start back-to-back USMNT matches for the first time since the Concacaf Nations League quarterfinal home and away legs against Trinidad and Tobago in November 2023.
- Diego Luna returns to the starting lineup for the first time since Sept. 6 against Korea Republic. Luna (3 goals, 4 assists) has a team-leading 16 appearances and is also tied with Malik Tillman for most goal contributions with seven in 2025.
- In his first appearance of 2025, Auston Trusty earns his second career start and first since his debut in the Concacaf Nations League group stage match at Grenada on March 24, 2023.
- Earning his third cap, Timmy Tillman also gets his second start and first since his debut against Slovenia on Jan. 20, 2024, in San Antonio.
- Aidan Morris, John Tolkin and Haji Wright each collect their second starts of 2025.
- Wright tallied both goals in his last start, coming in the 2-1 comeback win against Australia last month in Commerce City, Colo.
- Tolkin also collected an assist in his last start, coming in the 2-1 win against Haiti in the Concacaf Gold Cup on June 22 in Arlington, Texas.
- Morris last started and played 73 minutes in the 1-1 draw with Ecuador last month in Austin.
- The youngest player in the Starting XI, 21-year-old Orlando City defender Alex Freeman will cap his debut year with the USMNT by making his 13th career appearance and 10th overall start.
- Midfielder Sebastian Berhalter makes his ninth appearance, all of which came in 2025.
- The USA is 2W-3L-4D all-time against Uruguay, in a series that dates all the way back to the 1924 Summer Olympics in Paris.
- The USMNT is 4W-2L-0D in six matches at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa. This is the team’s first match at the venue since facing Colombia on Oct. 11, 2018.
