VENICE, Calif. (June 21, 2026) – In the team’s first-ever match on home sand, and the first of today’s exciting doubleheader known as U.S. Soccer on the Beach presented by Volkswagen, the U.S. Women’s Beach Soccer National Team defeated Trinidad and Tobago handedly 12-3 led by four goals from Hannah Adler and braces from Lauren Leslie and Tori Phillips.
The match kicked off a bright, energetic day in Venice Beach in a first-of-its-kind doubleheader at 3100 Ocean Front Walk, just steps away from U.S. Soccer House, presented by Bank of America.
FIRST PERIOD
Both teams started the match with energy, feeding off the buzz of a full crowd of more than 800 onlookers at Venice Beach. Moments after forcing U.S. goalkeeper Gabriella Batmani to make a diving save, Trinidad and Tobago found the back of the net to open the scoring. Aaliya Prince curled a shot with her right foot into the side netting at 8:13 of the first period.
The U.S. inched closer and closer toward finding an equalizer. The Beach WNT nearly answered after the team earned a free kick near the right sideline. Vanessa Valentine took the kick, aiming for the far post, and Marissa Vasquez slid on the receiving end, but the low rolling ball was just beyond her step. Moments later, Adler nearly tapped in a long shot with her backheel, but the effort went wide. Just over six minutes, Adler tried to connect on a Vasquez cross, but her sizeable effort slid just wide of frame.
Following a nice save from Batmani while under immense pressure from the Soca Warriors, the U.S. leveled the match 1-1 when Leslie smashed a beautiful right-footed shot into the left side of the net.
The U.S. broke the deadlock with a goal from Grace Bailey. Valentine drew the attention of Trinidad and Tobago’s defense, including the goalkeeper, toward the right side of the sandy pitch, creating space in front of goal. She fed a pass to Bailey, who collected and finished with the inside of her right foot.
Batmani would make two more saves before the first period drew to a close, including a fantastic effort to punch the ball away after it took a wicked bounce and was on track to slide under the crossbar, and the U.S. led 2-1 heading into the second period.
SECOND PERIOD
An action-packed second period began with Trinidad & Tobago on the front foot as captain Summer Arjoon took a chance with a dangerous strike that just missed. Later, the Soca Warriors nearly connected on a header following a corner kick.
The U.S. was awarded a penalty kick from about eight yards from goal. Adler took the kick at the 7:30-mark and struck it confidently with her right foot, driving the ball into the right lower corner of the net to put the U.S. ahead 3-1.
At 5:24 in the second period, Trinidad and Tobago pulled one goal back. Following a goal kick, Aaliyah Prince collected the ball, and the captain turned nicely to deliver a strike with her left foot that travelled into the upper left window of the net to bring Trinidad and Tobago to within one goal.
The U.S. would re-establish control with two more incredible goals within about 30 seconds of each other. On the first, Tori Phillips finished on a free kick from the right side at 3:50. Moments later, Valentine delivered with a right-footed shot driven into the right-side netting at 3:19.
The U.S. would put the exclamation point on an exciting period with a header from Vasquez with just 14 seconds remaining on the clock, and the U.S. went into the final period of the match ahead 6-2 – all six goals in the first two periods coming from different goal scorers.
THIRD PERIOD
After establishing some control in the second period, the U.S. truly pulled away in the third, scoring more goals than any other on the day. The team also grew more ambitious and attempted two bicycle kicks – the first came from Ali Hall from distance, which sailed over the goal.
Asha James from Trinidad & Tobago came into the third period hungry, taking two shots in the opening seconds. After that, the goals poured in for the U.S. as the team doubled its output from the start of the period to the end. At 8:24, a firm shot from Valentine trickled in after taking a bounce in the sand.
Trinidad and Tobago’s goalkeeper Malaika Dedier made a nice save to deny a shot from Vasquez, who controlled the ball with a couple bounces on her knee then struck it beautifully on target. The U.S. knocked the next one past Dedier a few minutes later when a shot snuck through the goalkeeper’s legs to extend the lead.
It was all USA the rest of the way. Adler secured her hat trick at 5:00, then Leslie scored one after to move the U.S. into double-digits with the team’s 10th goal.
Trinidad and Tobago pulled one back, thanks to a finish from Alexicia Ali.
The U.S. scored on the proceeding kickoff after Ali’s goal, cutting Trinidad and Tobago’s celebration short. Then, the cherry on top came from Adler with 20 seconds remaining in the match to make it a banner day with four goals for the Southern California native.
