- After coming off the bench in the 58th minute last Thursday, Christian Pulisic returns to the lineup, making his third appearance and second start of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
- McKennie is the only player to start all eight matches for the USA at each of the last two FIFA World Cups. The Little Elm, Texas product becomes just the sixth USMNT player to start eight consecutive World Cup matches, joining Landon Donovan (12 consecutive starts), Clint Dempsey (10), Brian McBride (10), Michael Bradley (8) and Tim Howard (8).
- Also making his eighth career World Cup appearance, Sergiño Dest joins McKennie in tying Marcelo Balboa, Michael Bradley, Tim Howard and Eric Wynalda for 10th on the USMNT’s all-time World Cup caps list.
- Alex Freeman, 21, becomes the ninth player under the age of 22 to start for the USMNT in a World Cup Knockout Round match: James Brown, Billy Gonsalves, Bert Patenaude (1930 vs. Argentina); Ed Czerkiewicz (1934 vs. Italy); Landon Donovan (2002 vs. Mexico and Germany); Jozy Altidore (2010 vs. Ghana); Jesús Ferreira and Yunus Musah (2022 vs. Netherlands).
- Freeman and Malik Tillman join Dest and McKennie as the four starters making their fourth appearance in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
- Tim Ream captains the USMNT for the 32nd time tonight, ranking him sixth all-time on the USMNT captains list. Ream is making his 85th appearance, tying him with Frankie Hejduk and Bruce Murray for 23rd on the USMNT’s all-time caps list.
