Leslie (pictured above) nearly restored the two-goal lead with just three minutes left, but her flick-on header from 10 yards came back off the cross bar. The USA did enough through the final minutes to see off England’s pressure, but iced the match with five seconds remaining as Lowder’s long throw found Leslie who beat a defender before finishing inside the right post.
The last-second goal was Leslie’s second of the match and took her career total to 16, moving her past Kilee Quigley for sole possession of first on the USBWNT’s all-time scoring list. It was also Leslie’s fourth of the tournament, putting her atop the Women’s Mundialito Golden Boot chart ahead of the tournament finale between Spain and Portugal later on Sunday.
With the result, the USA finishes third on three points with a 1-2-0 record. Spain and Portugal will play for the tournament title in the finale later Sunday.

- The USBWNT finishes 2023 with a 6-3-0 record and moves to 12-12-0 in 24 all-time matches since the program launched in 2019.
